How to set up remote
Initial Setup Guide - Setting Min & Max Amps
Determine Your Machine’s Amperage Range:
Before connecting the remote, turn on your welding machine and check its minimum and maximum amps directly on the machine.
➡️ You will need these values to correctly set up the remote.Connect the Receiver:
Plug the receiver into the machine using the provided pigtail connector.
➡️ The connection port is located on the bottom of the receiver.Power On the System:
Turn on both the receiver and the remote.Set Minimum Amps:
When the remote powers on, the screen will display “Set Min.”
➡️ Use the dial to match the min amps you found on the machine.
➡️ Press the button to confirm.Set Maximum Amps:
After confirming the Min, the screen will display “Set Max.”
➡️ Use the dial to match the machine’s max amps.
➡️ Press the button to confirm.Test for Accuracy:
Once the Min and Max are set, operate the remote and watch the machine’s display (if your machine shows amperage in real time).
➡️ If the machine’s display does not match the remote, you may need to fine-tune the Max Amps setting.
➡️ Adjust the Max in increments of 5 amps until the remote and machine match.
Reference Calibration Ranges
Here are some baseline calibration settings from machines we’ve tested. These give you a solid starting point when setting up your remote:
CMT350: Remote range: 0–436 | Contactor: ON Max out Machine
Frontier X400: Remote range: 0–280 | Machine range: 5–250
Maverick: Remote range: 20–263 | Machine range: 20–255
XMT350 / Red-D-Arc EX360: Remote range: 5–Same as machine
VANTAGE: Remote: Same as min and max on machine
✅ Advantage: Having a flexible remote allows you to dial in your machine for different welding processes and adjust for machine variances. This makes your remote usable across multiple machines and gives you full control over your output range.
⚠️ Important: When setting up the remote, you should always match the minimum and maximum amps to the values displayed on the machine for the process you’re using.
⚠️ Process Differences:
Stick welding and TIG welding often have slightly different amp ranges, even on the same machine.
Be sure to check and set Min and Max amps based on the process you’re using.
⚠️ Note: Not all machines show real-time amperage changes on their display. If your machine doesn’t, you will need to test it by running the machine and verifying performance
Charging Guide - Important Instructions
✅ Use Only the Provided Chargers
Each remote comes with chargers specifically designed for the remote’s battery system.
➡️ Using any other charger may damage the battery or the remote, and will void your warranty.
✅ Avoid Fully Draining the Battery
To maximize battery life and performance, do not completely drain the battery.
➡️ It is recommended to begin charging when the battery reaches around 20%.
✅ Charge to Full
Allow the battery to charge fully before disconnecting.
➡️ Partial charges are fine if necessary, but for best performance, a full charge cycle is recommended whenever possible.
⚠️ Important: Regular charging and proper care will extend the lifespan of your battery and help ensure reliable operation during critical jobs.
